2010 Readers Studio poster by Ciro Marchetti

Dear Tarot Lover,

It's that time again!

It's been awhile since we said our goodbyes at RS 2009. And now it's time to open our doors again for The Readers Studio 2010.

If you're reading this page right now, chances are, you love Tarot. And as a “Tarot person,” you undoubtedly know just how powerfully Tarot can create deep and lasting change.

It's not an understatement to say that…

All it takes is just ONE caring reader, a Tarot deck, and a moment…
to transform a person's life — forever.

As we closed the circle at RS 2009, we reflected — as we always do — on the magic that had just transpired. As always, something very specific bubbled up in our contemplations.

Over the past 8 years, The Readers Studio community has transformed into something unbelievably special, that is certain. But a community is ultimately a collection of individuals. And that leads us to consider…

What happens when a community of over 200 passionate Tarot lovers
come together… to learn, share and support one another along the way?

We can tell you, because we've seen it happen over and over again at The Readers Studio…

Tarotists who felt they had to hide this important part of themselves “come out of the Tarot closet”

Others take the step to reading Tarot professionally, or from reading “on the side” to full time

Still others “find their bliss” by way of Tarot and The Readers Studio community… and make purposeful career changes

Still others find that special life-long friendship or kinship (even when they've only just met)

Creative Tarotists with a deck or work to share find an appreciative audience… and sometimes even a publishing deal

Those who feel “out there” and alone find that they have a place to come home to… and a community that nourishes them all year long

Awe and amazement, gratitude and humility… as we've watched the accomplishments of Readers Studio attendees, we've felt all of those things and more.

Of course… as any spiritual seeker will tell you, there is a time for reflection, and there is a time for celebration. We think it's high time to celebrate!

New To The Readers Studio? Read This First!

Most of our attendees return to The Readers Studio year after year. They “know the drill,” so to speak.

However, if you're brand new, you might be wondering, “What the heck is this thing called The Readers Studio?” (We know this page is really long, so we want to make it easy to find the answer!)

The Readers Studio is an annual conference for Tarot enthusiasts hosted by Ruth Ann & Wald Amberstone of The Tarot School (that's us!).

Each year, Tarot lovers from around the world travel to New York City, where they spend 3 whirlwind (and very fun!) days together. They come to connect with like minds, immerse themselves in a pursuit they love… and improve their skills very, very quickly.

The core of The Readers Studio is 3 half-day Tarot master classes, given by top authorities in the field. (Over the past 7 years, we've had the pleasure of bringing in just about every major Tarot thinker, scholar or teacher you can think of who is active on the Tarot scene today.) In these hands-on sessions, you'll learn cutting-edge, practical reading techniques. No theoretical lectures!

At The Readers Studio, our community is our highest value. Our highest commitment is to provide the best Tarot training available. To honor both, we hold each of the 3 main presentations in the grand ballroom of the hotel where the event is hosted.

We all learn together — and that includes the presenters! (When they're not on stage, they're in the audience, learning with you.) And because there's only one track on the main stage, you'll never have to choose between the main sessions.

Of course, as anyone who has been to The Studio will tell you, the master classes are just the beginning. Every Readers Studio features “a la carte” study groups and events that you can pick and choose. It's not an exaggeration to say that there's always something for a Tarot lover to do — morning, noon and (late!) into the night.

As your hosts, we're thrilled to welcome you to this page. We invite you to grab a cup of tea, make yourself comfy and read this page from start to finish.

We know it's long, but we promise it's worthwhile. You'll get a great feel for what The Readers Studio experience is like, and you'll meet some Very Important People — the people who attend. It's their presence that makes The Readers Studio what it is — THE not-to-be-missed Tarot event of the year.

We hope that 2010 is the first of many Readers Studios for you — we would love to see you there!

    Bright blessings and love,
    Ruth Ann & Wald

When we began The Readers Studio back in 2003, we knew that we wanted to provide the best practical training to passionate Tarot lovers everywhere. And host a big Tarot party for all of our friends!

Truthfully, we had no idea what would ultimately unfold. (Some might call that ironic for Tarot readers, we know!)

Time has shown that we have succeeded beyond measure in our original intent, and we couldn't be happier about that. But what makes us happier still is watching the changes ripple outward from our extraordinary community and into the lives of the people in it.

As we head into our 8th year, we'd like to shine the spotlight on some past Readers Studio attendees. We think you'll agree that their accomplishments in the world of Tarot and beyond are extraordinary, and truly inspiring.

Please join us in celebrating all of these folks! Then keep reading to discover how you can create your OWN success story… by joining us for The Readers Studio in 2010.

(Want YOUR story featured on this page? Be sure to read all the way to the end, to learn how you can nab your share of the spotlight and see YOUR Readers Studio success story posted here!)

Find The Confidence To
“Come Out Of The Tarot Closet”… And Even Go Pro

One of the questions we hear most often is “Do I have to be a professional reader to come to The Readers Studio?” The answer is, definitely not! (More on that later — keep reading!)

Nonetheless, we've noticed a “curious” phenomenon. Many of those people who ask that question DO come to The Studio, as beginners, “in the closet” or otherwise hiding or downplaying their talents.

After 3 days with their decks in hand, practicing and learning with fellow readers… their skills deepen, their confidence soars, and they finally “get” what we knew all along — they are Tarot readers! (And oh yeah, they also get out there and start getting paying clients.) Coincidence? We don't think so!

“I 'came out' as a Tarot consultant because of
the confidence I got — no kidding!”

The Readers Studio really did expand my practice and gave me so much more confidence! I've been telling people that I completely "came out" as a tarot consultant because of the confidence it gave me — no kidding! I just made a new website dedicated to my Tarot practice and yes, even got more clients.

The Readers Studio helped make me see that I'm a damn good reader, introduced me to the richness of Tarot and showed me how I can get even better. I definitely will be back next year! It was too much fun.

It's so wonderful to be a part of this tribe, my tribe.
Thank You!

— Chea Maria

From Reading Part-Time To Reading Full-Time…
And So Much More

Many of our attendees are already reading professionally in some way, usually part time. For some, that's just enough and just fine! Other “Tarot people,” however, are born readers, healers, and teachers who want to take it further… but aren't sure how.

Over the years, with the skills and support they gain at The Readers Studio, many of our attendees gain the courage and confidence to boldly step into their “right livelihood.” We couldn't be happier to be part of the process!

“I honed my skills at The Readers Studio… and now I work with Tarot full-time.”

I met Ruth Ann & Wald when they first started teaching. I was at the New York Tarot Festival where they were married, and took many classes with them over the years.

When I moved to Florida, I always reconnected with Wald & Ruth Ann when I returned to New York City. When I was working towards leaving my full-time position as a teacher, they gave me their support via phone conversations.

For a while I entertained the idea of becoming a school principal, and received a degree in educational supervision and administration. But counseling people through Tarot tugged at my soul, and I honed my skills as a Tarot professional. After attending the last 2 Readers Studios and reading publically at Raoul's Restaurant in New York City, I was ready to work full-time as a Tarot consultant, personal development coach and workshop facilitator.

Though I started my business years ago, the information and ideas at The Readers Studio provided invaluable information that moved me along in the right direction and helped me to maintain momentum!

The Readers Studio presenters and Tarot enthusiasts motivated, supported and inspired me. Wald & Ruth Ann, who knew of my plans to change careers, always provided inspiration, encouragement and ideas just when I needed them.

Their guidance was just the best. For all of the above, I am extremely and eternally grateful.

— Gilda Sall

“Now I live my purpose, every day…”

I can honestly say that The Readers Studio changed the course of my life. That's a big statement I know, but it's absolutely true. (Though it didn't happen in the way you might expect!)

I hold Wald and Ruth Ann among my heart's nearest and dearest. When taking the very first steps on my spiritual journey, their classes got me started. I often joke that they taught me everything I know about Tarot. While that's not exactly the whole story (I've gotta give myself some credit, here!), they have been my greatest Tarot teachers, by far.

So when I quit my "soul-sucking job" to find my true calling and found myself knee-deep in the world of freelance writing, I was grateful to have Wald & Ruth Ann as my first clients. When I felt something deeper within me trying to emerge, they gave me the opportunity to take the first steps on that path at The Readers Studio, in an after-hours workshop.

I will never, ever forget the warmth, the kindness, the sincere enthusiasm from "my peeps" at The Readers Studio. Their appreciation of my class was one thing; their complete acceptance of me as a person was utterly transformative.

Now, I have a thriving coaching business which allows me to help Tarot readers and other spirit-inspired entrepreneurs live their brilliance every day. Far from being "a way to make a living," my business is the cornerstone of a rich creative life which encompasses and supports the many projects I have going and allows me to live my life purpose, every day.

As Tarotists, we know our practice is not just about becoming better readers, or pursuing our passions, or finding community, and so on... it's about ALL of those things, woven together in a bright tapestry called... a LIFE.

The Readers Studio has helped me create that tapestry. And that's what it can do for you, too, when you go with an open mind and open yourself to the transformation that can happen there.

Thank you, Wald & Ruth Ann! I love you and will always be grateful to you and the rest of "The Readers Studio peeps."

Find A Warm Welcome For Your Work…
And (Maybe!) A Publishing Deal

Do you have a Tarot deck you've been working on? Or a Tarot book you're pouring your soul into? Whatever your labor of Tarot love, The Readers Studio is the perfect place to find an eager audience… and perhaps even a publishing deal!

We have relationships with several major New Age publishers, most of whom have been to The Readers Studio at one point or another. At least one publisher, or publishing industry expert, is usually in the ballroom every year. (And we can guarantee that there will always be “somebody who knows somebody who...!”)

Within the connecting and open vibe at The Readers Studio, you'll find it easy to make those crucial connections. Who knows? The next publishing success story could be you! (You won't know unless you join us!)

“A publishing deal for my deck & book!”

Soooo much has happened as a result of being at The Readers Studio — I barely know where to begin!

First I made the big shift to begin reading professionally as my primary focus. I'm also officially “out of the closet” — everyone knows that I am a Tarot reader now. That was a huge deal…. and then I landed an even bigger deal: a publishing deal for my Mystereum Tarot deck and Imagination Primer book!

I'm also working on a second deck with my collaborator, Erin Wight, a Mandala Tarot, have donated my Tarot services to non-profits, have speaking engagements in the works, and am working on a class to be presented at RS10, and a LONG list of other stuff…

Everything that I've worked for, to market my Mystereum deck and myself as a reader, is now beautifully coming together! Most importantly, I started liking myself MORE, seeing new natural abilities shining in action… and the world is responding in a huge way.

Like so many others in our tribe of Tarot readers, it's the very TRIBE that keeps me coming back. We're all similar, each unique… and The Readers Studio is the place where we can all come together and grow. It's rockin' and so wonderfully cool.

You gotta be there!

— Jordan Hoggard

“Within 2 days, we had a contract!”

I'd had the contact information for Schiffer Books for a little while and had my eye on them, but had put the projects on the back burner. Wouldn't you know, they were at The Readers Studio! When I visited their table and saw their stuff, I just had a feeling.

After some inspiration from a fellow Readers Studio attendee (who had his deck and children's book picked up after meeting them at The RS), I contacted my collaborator and we submitted our proposal. Within 2 days we had a contract for our children's book!

Because we received such a warm welcome from Schiffer, I decided to go ahead and send them another proposal, this time for our deck. Like most projects, this deck is near and dear to our hearts…. It's a deck created BY and FOR Tarot readers — in other words, not just another RWS clone. On the very day I sent it, my contact at Schiffer called me back to tell me she loved it. We will be negotiating further on that project once our children's book is done!

Needless to say, I am elated! I never would have made that original connection to Schiffer without The Readers Studio.

“I'm taking my dissertation to a whole new level”

A year ago, I came to the Tarot School for two reasons: I wanted to learn tarot and I wanted to write a dissertation about tarot card readers. These two goals lead to a delightful jumble of questions and interests that lead to a surprising result — a new direction for my PhD dissertation.

Before The Readers Studio, my dissertation focused on Tarot reading, but it was more of a labor study — exploring how Tarot has become part of a set of contemporary therapy practices. At The Readers Studio, however, I had a realization. There, I was in the midst of a loving, living, dynamic community and, if I could slow down my mind, not only would the answers to my questions emerge, but I might also find the right questions to ask others, in the best way possible.

The Readers Studio gave me another rare gift: a moment of silence. My brain moves fast, sometimes too fast. I tend to be an introverted thinker/world-watcher and it's a bit beyond my control to see connections, possibilities, and meanings as quickly as they happen and as fleeting as they go. However, the exercises during the pre-conference class quieted my mind and then opened it to a new way of seeing.

The Readers Studio helped me gain my excitement back for my dissertation because it really is about finding answers to questions that I work through personally, not just sociologically. In Tarot, there is mirroring of the great existential conundrum: how do we know what we know? How do we learn to trust what we think we know, and what type of life should that knowing lead to?

The last year has been an adventure in learning about myself and about the Tarot world. I look forward to taking my research and writing to the next level this year, and hope to have something wonderful to show you at the next Readers Studio!

— Karen Gregory

Find A Tribe… And A Place To Call Home

As we've said, when we created The Readers Studio, our intention was to provide a place where Tarot lovers could get intensive training in practical reading skills from the very best teachers in Tarot. (Okay, and we wanted an excuse to invite our friends to New York City every year, too!)

And that's still what The Readers Studio is all about. But so many of our readers have told us that while our expert line-ups and practical take-aways may have initially attracted them, something much deeper calls them back, year after year without fail…

“The Readers Studio is where you belong!”

The Readers Studio has had a tremendous impact on my life. It's amazing the way those connections that you make at The Readers Studio just ripple outward and come back to you.

After my first Readers Studio in 2007, I couldn't wait to get back there in 2008. 2008 was a challenging year for me, and RS08 came along at a time when I really needed community and Tarot people around me.

That year, my “Develop Your Intuition” study group was wildly well-received. I reconnected with my good friend Garnet and through her, I met and made more wonderful connections, which lead to one of the best trips of my life. In May of 2008 I was invited to teach in Florida and got to know some of the most talented, intelligent, kind, funny and just plain wonderful people that have ever touched my life. I would not have made those connections were it not for The Readers Studio!

RSO9 was an opportunity to connect again with Florida friends, my Canada and New Hampshire connections from '07 and make some new friends from England, Colorado, and Texas.

I cast my Tarot net out each year at the Readers Studio and bring in an amazing bounty! Of course, my intention is to give back also. Part of the joy of The Readers Studio is giving and receiving in equal measure. (And there's silliness, too — one of my favorite moments of '08 was watching TV with Ciro Marchetti and his wife Maria in our PJs!)

Every time I attend The Readers Studio, something unexpected and wonderful happens. On top of all the instruction (which is worth the price of admission alone), the connections and community are the real jewels in the Readers Studio crown. If you're a Tarot lover, it's where you belong!

— Prudence Theriault

“Like spending time with a beloved extended family!”

Maribeth Pittman

Over the past couple of years, The Readers Studio has become my "Tarot Homecoming." When RS time rolls around, it's like finally being able to spend time with a beloved, extended family. (Whose company I actually enjoy — ha!)

I can't tell you how much The Readers Studio means to me. There aren't many like-minded people who are "into" Tarot and other esoteric pursuits where I live, and it gets pretty lonely out here! The majority of my Tarot interactions, including readings for clients, take place online. And while I do cherish my online clients, and also the dear members of my primary online Tarot community (Tarot for Life), cyberspace contact just is not the same as being able to talk, practice, breathe, sleep, and imbibe Tarot in person with fellow enthusiasts.

But even beyond that, I always come away from The Readers Studio with my skills improved, intelligent additions to my bag of Tarot tricks, and best of all, with a whole lot more confidence in practicing my craft and confirmation that I am, indeed, pursuing my natural calling.

Once again, a big thank you to you and your staff so very much for this venue! I'll see you in 2010, and beyond!

— Maribeth E. Pittman

If you love Tarot, you belong at The Readers Studio. And whether this is your 8th event or your very first, there has never been a better time to join us, because 2010 is going to be very special indeed!

We've added more opportunities to learn and more opportunities for FUN — keep reading this page for the full scoop!

Why did we add so much? The big reason is, because we love our attendees! And adding extras just felt right because this year we have even one more reason to celebrate…

The Centennial of the Rider-Waite-Smith Deck!

One of the most influential decks in all of Tarot (and the deck of choice at The Tarot School) is 100 years old in 2010!

While we're not making that the theme of the party, we'd be remiss if we didn't have a few goodies up our sleeves to celebrate… and so we do! Starting with…

The 2010 Readers Studio Presenters!

Mary K. Greer Mary K. Greer A scholar, teacher, and “midwife of the soul,” Mary K. Greer is one of the most highly respected authorities on Tarot. Her many books include 21 Ways To Read A Tarot Card, Complete Book Of Tarot Reversals, Understanding The Tarot Court, Women Of The Golden Dawn and the classic Tarot For Yourself: A Workbook Of Personal Transformation, which broke new ground in the Tarot field by being one of the first books devoted to reading the cards for personal development.

Mary's rich contributions to the field continue to grow and include the writing of her incredibly popular Tarot blog, where she posts new articles regularly.

A longtime friend of The Tarot School, past RS presenter and a familiar face for Readers Studio attendees, Mary has also presided as Priestess at our wedding!. We're thrilled that she will return in 2010 as a master class instructor.

Robert M. Place Robert M. Place's decks include his classic Alchemical Tarot (a reader favorite), The Buddha Tarot, Tarot of the Saints, The Angels Tarot, the upcoming Tarot Of The Sevenfold Mystery (currently available in a majors-only annotated edition) and his latest, The Vampire Tarot. His book on the history and origins of Tarot, The Tarot: History, Symbolism & Divination, explores the deck through the influences and symbolism of its birthplace, 14th century Italy.

A noted scholar and frequent lecturer on the Western Mystery Tradition, Bob has taught at The Open Center, The World Tarot Congress, The New York Tarot Festival, The East Coast Tarot Symposium, The Third International Conference of the Association for Esoteric Studies, The Omega Institute, The New York Theosophical Society, The Museo Dei Tarocchi (in Riola, Italy), and — of course! — The Readers Studio. Segments of his lectures have appeared on the Learning Channel, Discovery, and A&E.

Bob has a genuine gift for making esoteric concepts accessible without sacrificing their integrity. His teaching combines his scholarship of Tarot, mysticism, the Western Traditions, art history and his own firsthand deep knowledge of the deck as creator and a working artist. Bob will take the stage once again in 2010 to present an engaging, original reading technique that you'll be glad to add to your repertory.

Dr. Elinor Greenberg Dr. Elinor Greenberg is a licensed psychologist and an internationally respected Gestalt Therapy writer and trainer.

For the past thirty-five years, Elinor has explored a variety of therapeutic approaches to personal growth and integrated their methods into her practice of psychotherapy. After studying Tarot intensely, she became convinced that Tarot insights have long been undervalued and could be useful additions to the practice of psychotherapy.

Elinor developed an integrated approach called Tarot Counseling that combines elements of both Tarot and psychotherapy and can be used by practitioners of each system. In a first, she gave workshops on Tarot Counseling at two different psychotherapy training institutes and made it a condition that both the tarot community and the psychotherapy community be permitted to attend and work together.

Elinor's article, “Tarot Counseling,” appeared in Llewellyn's Tarot Reader 2007. Her presentation on that topic was a favorite of RS07 and still gets rave reviews from those who were there. Elinor's 2010 presentation will undoubtedly be just as memorable!

In honor of its centennial, our 2010 presenters were selected in part for their deep knowledge of the Rider-Waite-Smith Deck. Of course, we can't resist contributing something new on this special occasion…

The Readers Studio Pre-Conference Class 2010:
Color, Costume & Choreography
Color, Costume & Choreography

Pamela Colman Smith left us a great legacy of significant imagery in the deck that, more than any other, has dominated 20th century tarot. This is the centennial anniversary year of that deck, and we are going to celebrate and honor her contribution to it in our Thursday pre-conference class.

There is so much depth and such dazzling complexity of detail in her imagery that we can't begin to do justice to it all. This class will focus on just three things that elicit deep responses from everyone who uses the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, even when they aren't aware of it.

The first is color, whose pervasive presence sets the intuitive mood in every card.

The second is costume, which gives the overall context for interpretation.

Third is what we call choreography, the stances and actions which show us the definitive energy and direction of the intent of each image.

Although we will limit ourselves to these three aspects of her art, our class will be an introduction and a tribute to the importance of Pixie Smith's contribution to the enduring power of RWS. It will also give you an amazingly useful addition to your repertoire of practical tarot knowledge that you can use with most decks.

The pre-conference class is OUR chance to give you all-new tools to add to your Tarot bag. We encourage you to take advantage of this special opportunity because the class always consists of cutting-edge material we've never presented to a large audience (and might never again). You won't want to miss it!

In 2010 we've added another BIG reason to get here early…

Included In Your Registration:
Bus into Manhattan on Wednesday night!

Everyone knows that The Readers Studio is THE place for readers to be — a weekend-long “heart family gathering” where the face time matters as much as the learning — or perhaps even more.

This year, we're getting the party started early by gifting you with a FREE bus ride into Manhattan on Wednesday evening, April 21!

Find new friends, connect with old friends, explore NYC and get a jump on one of the most important parts of the weekend: the socializing. The bus will arrive at 5pm so we get a full evening of fun in Greenwich Village and will leave at 10pm to return to the hotel… where the party will undoubtedly continue!

There's no cost for the bus — it's our gift to you. To take advantage of this special benefit, simply let us know you're coming in early when you register (more on that below).

We're hoping you come early and kick The Studio off right. After a night on the town, you'll have Thursday to relax before “Color, Costume and Choreography” on Thursday night.

Trust us, you'll be glad you gave yourself a little extra time to “ground and center” before the start of…

“3 Non-Stop Days Of Total Tarot Immersion!”

It's what we're known for!

The Readers Studio brings you the very best practical training in a fast-pasted, fun weekend-long workshop. When you bring your best to the ballroom and dive in headfirst, your readings will improve dramatically, whether you're a beginner, seasoned pro, or somewhere in between.

Whether you've just started reading for friends or you've been reading in public for the past 20 years (or more!), your readings will improve. You'll see it happen with your own eyes, thanks to our signature "The Proof Is In The Cards" technique…

The Readers Studio Signature
Reading: The Foundation Reading

It’s our first order of business in our very first session.  Here’s how it works.

You’ll pair up with a partner and do a reading of your choosing using whatever techniques you have when you walk in the door.  You’ll have at least 20 minutes each to go deep into your questions, and give each other feedback, and you’ll want to take a lot of notes so you don’t forget a thing.

On Sunday morning, you’ll find your partner and revisit the reading.  Same cards, same question, only this time, you’ll also have all the techniques you’ve picked up over two and a half days of packed sessions, impromptu readings, passionate conversation and practice, practice, practice.

We promise — your reading WILL change for the better!  The foundation reading also serves to “lock in” all the information you’ve been learning so you won’t lose it.  You’ll be thrilled when you see for yourself just how far you’ve come!

“Whether you're an old hand or brand new,
your understanding will take a quantum leap forward!”

Coming to the annual Readers Studio should be one of the highest priorities for any Tarot person. In fact, I can't imagine NOT attending every year. Whether you are an old hand, or new to the practice, your understanding will take a quantum leap forward.

The featured workshops and presentations are of the very highest caliber. And the friendly camaraderie of being in the company of the world's finest readers, teachers and practitioners is pure joy.

You owe it to yourself to discover who you can become as a reader, when you are given the most nurturing imaginable environment. Thrive and grow with the very best!

Learn From (And With!)
The Modern-Day Tarot Masters

The cornerstone of The Readers Studio curriculum is the master sessions with our 3 presenters. This is your chance to learn directly from Tarot's luminaries — the people who write the books on your bookshelf. (Note: we always ask them to save their best stuff for us!)

The master sessions are three hours long, so you can truly enjoy soaking up all they have to share AND put your new skills into practice right away. You'll learn as much from your table-mates as you will from the presenters! (Who take full part in the festivities and just might sit next to you when they're not on stage, by the way.)

And for those who want more, there's always….

A Generous Selection of
After-Hours Study Groups

Especially For Early Birds:
The Readers Studio Breakfast Roundtables

At The Readers Studio, the festivities always last late into the night, and that's part of the fun! Nonetheless, we realize that not everyone is a night owl, and early birds need love too.

Corrine Kenner hosted the first Readers Studio Breakfast Roundtable at RS06 and they've become more and more popular each year. Purchase your breakfast at the hotel restaurant and bring it next door to The Empire Lounge — or just come and sit in on the discussions. This year's hosts are…

Paul QuinnPaul Quinn's new book, Tarot For Life, was released in June 2009. Tarot For Life has quickly become a bestseller — and a new Tarot classic to boot! Paul's book is getting rave reviews and kudos from luminaries like Rachel Pollack (who wrote the forward) and Sonia Choquette. You'll have the opportunity to learn from Paul firsthand at his Breakfast Roundtable on Saturday morning.

Donnaleigh de LaRoseDonnaleigh de LaRose is a Tarot professional, intuitive healer and workshop facilitator who co-hosts Beyond Worlds, a popular Internet radio show on BlogTalkRadio. A gifted artist, Donnaleigh combines her artistic and psychic talents in her one-of-a-kind Spirit Guide Portrait readings, where she creates a beautiful portrait and channels messages from her clients' spirit guides. She is also an experienced teacher of the psychic arts. You don't want to miss this unique Breakfast Roundtable with Donnaleigh on Sunday morning!

The Breakfast Roundtables are a rollicking good time, but if you're an early bird who would like a more gentle way to greet the day, we have just the thing for you!

Carolyn CushingCarolyn Cushing will be leading a special Saturday morning session in the Meditation Room. Experience the symbols, characters, and deep wisdom of the Tarot in an hour-long session that will include energy balancing, guided visualization, and meditation. You'll spend the majority of time focused inwardly, and then there will be time for journaling and a brief sharing of experiences in Circle. Bring your favorite Tarot deck and a notebook / journal.

Hours Of Hands-On Reading Time

We don't call it The Readers Studio for nothing! Our main sessions will give you plenty of hands-on practice time to cement what you've learned. But that's just when class is in session…

We go to great lengths to create a space that's conducive to readings whenever it strikes your fancy. Come armed with cards and ready to read everywhere: in the bar, at dinner, in the lobby, in our new Readers Studio lounge, and long into the night.

As if all that wasn't enough, once again we've added some extra opportunities to read, learn and transform your practice this year — keep reading for the full scoop!

“Hang on a second — I'm a beginner!
Can I come to The Readers Studio?”

YES! If you're comfortable giving a 3-card reading without the help of a book, you're more than ready for the learning end of The Readers Studio. (Meanwhile, we'll just assume that you already have the requisite “skill set” to hang out and have fun with The Readers Studio crowd.)

Over the years, our beginners have become some of our biggest success stories. IF you're a new reader, The Readers Studio is the perfect place for you to hone your chops and build your confidence. And we're proud to say that at The Readers Studio, Tarotists of ANY skill level will be welcomed by a community of like minds.

“I was welcomed as a valued equal.”

I'd never done a "professional" reading, and a small part of me feared being singled out as the newbie at the Studio. Of course that never happened. I was welcomed as a valued equal and my ideas and interpretations were accepted as equal to my fellow attendees.

— Andrew Robinson

“You'll feel welcomed and worthy…”

The Readers Studio is hard to put into words. You meet the most magnificent people in our field and feel welcomed and worthy. Even lunches are as informative as the workshops because of the networking and easy conversations.

— Nancy Antenucci

“I can be with my fellow seekers…
There are no barriers, just total acceptance.”

Every year at The Readers Studio is transformational. Attending the sessions, absorbing the energy of the participants…. it's like jumping into a pool of the clearest, cleanest water. It surrounds you, fills you, and leaves you feeling better about yourself — healed in a very real way.

What I love most about The Studio is that it's a place where I can be with my fellow seekers, without judgment — there are no barriers, just total acceptance. We share ideas new and old, each of us growing with the help of the other. The sessions are always out of this world and the hands-on exercises give you the chance to absorb what you learn, right there on the spot.

I come back to The Readers Studio each year to connect with a wonderful group of people who have become an extension of my family. The energy and learning that goes on in this “world apart from the world” fulfills me and inspires me to study and discover more about Tarot — and hence, about myself.

— Matt Brooks

“How can I be sure that
The Readers Studio is right for me?”

It's a great question! Over the years, we've noticed a few dead-giveaways that you belong here…

You're passionate about Tarot and are always looking for a new deck, book, or spread to try…

You've dreamed of working side-by-side with your favorite authors but have never had the chance (or never pass up the chance!)

You love to splurge on Tarot decks and books (yay!) but hate waiting for them to arrive in the mail (boo!)…

You love the connection of Tarot online communities and want to experience the feeling “in real life”…

You live in an area without a lot of "Tarot people" and wish you had a place of your own to call home

You live in an area with a lot of Tarot people and you can't get enough of hanging with the tribe!

    And perhaps most importantly…

The idea of breathing, sleeping, eating and dreaming Tarot for an entire weekend makes you positively giddy with excitement (you're not alone, trust us…)

… then mark your calendar NOW (April 23-25) because you won't want to miss it!

“A rare place that Tarot lovers
can truly call their own…”

From the moment you secure your seat with Ruth Ann and Wald, you feel welcome and part of a vibrant, fun, exciting event. As soon as you walk into the hotel you hear Tarot being spoken and instantly you know that you belong here.

The community is by far my favorite part of The Readers Studio. Laughter fills the room. But make no mistake, this group works as hard as it plays! The Foundation reading continues to astound. Everything you learn is illuminated with passion and clarity in the final reading of the weekend. You know before you say good bye that you have learned far more than you ever expected.

Last year, I recommended The Readers Studio to a fellow Tarot lover. To be honest, I could not find the words to really capture the energy, the wisdom, the compassion and the camaraderie that swirl through the whole three days. She attended on my say so! She is still amazed and awed at the whole experience. She has made friends, established business contacts, blossomed as a reader as did I.

The Readers Studio is that rare place that Tarot lovers can truly call their own. I can hardly wait for RS10!

“The minute you arrive,
you'll know you are home.”

Garnet; I always think of The Readers Studio as a rich and diverse community coming together for a joyful family reunion. I fondly describe my “Tarot family” as a wonderful bag of Mixed Nuts with a variety of shapes, sizes and color and when you crack the shell, you discover such a wonderful and flavorful treat! Where else can a newbie comfortably share a drink and read with the Tarot luminaries of the world like Mary Greer, Rachel Pollack and Robert Place?

The power of The Readers Studio draws the “best in the world” from all over the world. But don't worry if you're just starting out — the community is welcoming to all. The minute you arrive at the hotel, you'll know right away that you are home.

The master sessions are always on the cutting edge of Tarot, and thanks to the evening study groups and extra sessions Wald & Ruth Ann always throw in, you truly can learn more in a weekend than you normally could in a month. The vendor tables (my own included!) are famous for the exquisite, the exotic and the magical!

Best of all is after-hours, where everyone comes together to relax, kick back and have some fun. (You'll find us in the bar or at one of my infamous suite parties — you're invited, so be sure to stop by my table!)

If you go to one Tarot conference a year… this is THE ONE you want to attend!

– Connie “Garnet*” Schaeffer

My calendar is marked! Sign me up for the Tarot Family Reunion 2010!

Food is always a big question on everyone's minds at The Readers Studio and mealtimes are a big part of the experiece, so we've included two special extras for you in 2010…

Included In Your Registration:
Lunch N' Learn Session On Friday Afternoon!

We know that figuring out the answer to “what's for lunch?” can interrupt the flow of a perfect Tarot-filled day! So here's a yummy alternative: a gourmet lunch with the entire Readers Studio community while enjoying a bonus presentation. Best part? Both are on us!

We're proud to announce that our Lunch N' Learn speaker is… Dan Pelletier of The Tarot Garden!

As co-owner of the popular online boutique The Tarot Garden, Dan's commitment to Tarot is legendary. When it comes to the food, the menu is still developing but rest assured that it will be delicious! You'll have an abundance of choice, suitable for both carnivores and vegetarians alike.

Included In Your Registration:
Saturday Night Readers Studio Banquet!

For the past two years, we've brought our community together for a kick-off cocktail party. But let's face it — waiting in line for those Swedish meatballs can be a drag. So this year, we're switching it up a little!

Included in your registration is your ticket to a sumptuous sit-down banquet on Saturday night. The meal will be entirely table service — no waiting in line. So you can sit back, relax, and focus on what you came for: spending quality time with your friends.

Dressing in your “Tarot finest” for the banquet is entirely optional — you're welcome to wear whatever makes you comfortable. That said, if you want to pack a little extra something for this special occasion, we highly encourage it!

“When I come to The Readers Studio,
I'm among kindred spirits….”

The Readers Studio isn't just a conference - it's a gathering of kindred Spirits. A Soul Friend Festival, if you will. From early in the morning until late at night (or early in the morning again), it really is “Total Tarot Immersion.” And it's incredible.

When I come to The Readers Studio, I know what it truly means to be among kindred spirits. The camaraderie, alone, is enough to keep me coming back every year. I think this is what Joseph Campbell meant when he said to "follow your bliss!”

Anyone with a passion for Tarot should follow their bliss to The Readers Studio. It truly is an experience not to be missed!

– Valerie Sherill

I can't wait to be a part of it. I want to register now!

Oh yes, there will be goodies…

The Ever-Popular Merchant Faire Returns!

The Merchant Faire always boasts an amazing selection of merchants and goodies from the Tarot community and this year is no exception! And to keep the feeling of community humming, we're all in the ballroom again this year. Come ready to shop-'til-you-drop with…

Joanna Powell Colbert— At last! The handmade Collector's Edition (*swoon*) of Joanna's long-awaited, much-anticipated Gaian Tarot will be released just before the event and Joanna will have plenty on hand for Readers Studio attendees. She'll also have prints, one-of-a-kind artwork and handmade jewelry for sale. Be part of the celebration and get your copy of The Gaian Tarot from Joanna herself at The Readers Studio.

Robert M. Place — When Bob isn't on stage presenting, you'll find him in the Faire offering up stunning prints from past decks and works-in-progress (including his exquisite Celtic Tarot and Tarot Of The Sevenfold Mystery), handmade sterling silver jewelry of his own design, and — of course! — copies of his in-print decks, including his classic Alchemical Tarot.

Ciro Marchetti — The creator of reader favorites The Gilded Tarot, Tarot Of Dreams and The Legacy of the Divine Tarot, Ciro is as charming and funny as he is talented. Studio regulars can tell you: it wouldn't be the same without him! So we're thrilled that he'll be back with decks, prints, his special brand of good-natured goofiness and…

2010 Readers Studio Commemorative Artwork (ALL NEW!)

For the past 2 years we've been blessed to have Ciro create gorgeous custom artwork for The Readers Studio. Well, he's done it again! Ciro has created an all-new piece for 2010. You can order a copy for your very own Here. Be sure to let Ciro know if you'd like him to ship it to your home or bring it with him to the Studio.

Rachel Pollack— Everyone in Tarot knows that Rachel is one of our Grand Dames, but did you know that she also crafts stunning, one-of-a-kind jewelry? The Readers Studio is a rare opportunity to get your hands on one of her elegant precious and semi-precious stone necklaces. (Past attendees have been known to model theirs all weekend long.)

Paula Chaffee Scardamalia — A creatvity coach, tarot and dream intuitive, Paula is the author of the award-winning book, Weaving a Woman's Life: Spiritual Lessons from the Loom, inspired by her successful career as a nationally recognized professional weaver and designer. In addition to her coaching, Paula offers essential oil and vibrational essence products for the creative process and shamanic dreamwork, as well as handmade wands, luxurious handwoven scarves and shawls, her book and CD.

Nattacia Zeviar — Nattacia's beautiful Tarot spread table linens are back, but this year they are even better! She has made them smaller and more affordable, plus they'll layer beautifully with last years designs. She will also have an assortment of pashminas and other imports from India to add to her exotic collection. If you need something special to add to that last minute costume, she'll have it!

Tarot Works (Jeanne Fiorini) — If you've been to The Readers Studio in the past few years, you've seen us give away dozens of publishers' gifts, wrapped in brightly colored Tarot wrapping paper from Tarot Works. (Maybe you've even won one or two yourself.) Now you'll have the chance to buy some for your own gifts! Jeanne will also have copies of her book, Invitation to Wonder – a collection of stories from actual readings, The Journey – a RWS Tarot study guide on CD, and specially designed brocade Tarot wrap bags in fabulously luxurious fabrics!

Judy Nathan — A welcome newcomer to the festivities, Judy has worked as a professional artist most of her adult life and has recently turned her artist's eye toward Tarot. Silky, exquisite one-of-a-kind Tarot bags and earthy, colorful tarot-based paintings/collages are some of the goodies she'll be bringing to her table at the Merchant's Faire. We've had a sneak peek at some of her work and we just know you're going to love it!

Coventry Creations — Joins the ranks this year in the Merchant Faire with their ever favorite Blessed Herbal Candles and many of their other magical candles. Jacki and Patty, the owners of Coventry will be on hand with candle/tarot combinations for your next tarot spell. They are also excited to launch their new tarot candle line that weekend — you will get the first dibs on these new creations. Of course with all of the Coventry products, the Tarot candles are hand made when the moon is right. The candle ladies can't wait to show off their wares to you at the Readers Studio and take part in all the classes!

Connie "Garnet" Schaeffer — A longtime friend of The Readers Studio, Garnet's wands and other beautiful handmade crystal creations are a favorite of RS attendees. We dare you to pick one up and then try to put it down again! Lovers of the shiny, fair warning — Garnet's wands have a habit of selecting their owners, not the other way around! (Yes, we figured you'd be all right with that.)

Baba Studio, Prague — Known for their truly Bohemian decks and textiles, Baba Studio will be selling a large range of illustrated satin, antique kimono, brocade and pure silk bags — all of which they print individually in their studio in the “Magic City” of Prague. Last year, almost everything on their table sold out! Elizabeth Owen will be Karen Mahony and Alex Ukolov's representative once again — and they promise even more exciting magical goodies!

Marilyn Foley — I will be selling original free-hand oil painting reproductions of some of the cards for the Carey-Yale and Visconti -Sforza Tarot decks. The paintings are &ldquo:original” in the sense that they are one-of-a-kind copies done by hand rather than mass produced. I do not trace the design of the cards onto the canvas, but copy it free hand the way art students copy paintings of the old masters. I will have only a few paintings (not more than half a dozen) and I plan to offer them for sale via a silent auction. That is, I will display the paintings along with a sheet where interested buyers can record their bids. The auction will close Sunday morning. Details will be on the sheets accompanying each painting.

Tarot Media Company (Tarot-To-Go) — provides mainstream production and distribution of Tarot works by leading authors, artists and scholars, so they can devote more time to creating the resources that enrich the entire Tarot community. Co-founder (and Studio regular) Anastasia Haysler will have a selection of goodies created exclusively for TMC, including sachets, card chargers, Tarot bags, and spread cloths, and educational DVDs including her popular 21st Century Tarot series starring James Wanless.

The Tarot Garden — There's nothing like oohing and ahhing over your deck wish list in person, which is why The Tarot Garden table is forever a favorite at The Readers Studio. Rest assured, they'll be back in 2010 with a generous (and we do mean generous) selection of popular, imported, small press, limited edition, out-of-print, and rare beauties. One of the perks of being an RS attendee is if you order early, Jeannette and Dan will bring your goodies along so you don't have to wait for it in the mail! (Just send them an email as the date gets closer.) And this year, they'll both be at The Studio — a rare joint appearance you won't want to miss!

The Tarot School  — Of course, what kind of hosts would we be if we didn't bring our own Tarot treats to tempt you with? Pick up those audio programs you've been wanting, your own birth card journal and button (with illustrations by Bob Place), Tarot bags and totes with the popular Tarot School logo, browse our large selection of books… and don't forget to treat yourself to a DVD set of the 2008 Readers Studio (one of our favorite Studios past).

“It's Arcan-ically And Tarot-ically Delicious!”

It's a given that when Tarot folk gather there will be fun, excitement, high energy, enormous outpourings of creativity, and lots of love. (I should know — I've been hosting Tarot events longer than anyone else!) The Readers Studio takes the community of Tarot to a whole new level — complete with terrific shopping!

It is deeply refreshing to spend so much time in such a secure, loving and supportive environment. The connections made are invaluable, the friendships formed are lasting… and the memories will be posted on the Internet with astonishing speed!

If you're a Tarot enthusiast, The Readers Studio is THE place to be come April. It's Arcan-ically and Tarot-ically delicious!

– Thalassa, Producer of the San Francisco Bay Area Tarot Symposium (SF BATS) and founder of the Daughters of Divination

“Laughter and tenderness…”

It's action-packed, educational, and enjoyable. Opening and closing sessions, three principle workshops, mini study groups, private consultations, shopping galore (tarot decks, books, jewelry, artwork, crystals, and more), and social time with folks who are astoundingly supportive and riotously funny. I came away with knowledge, love, and more tarot decks and books.

My reunion with people too numerous to mention individually (I adore ALL of you!) touched me deeply. There were moments of rib-aching laughter juxtaposed with moments of tenderness that brought tears to my eyes.

Why would I pass it up?
